Where To Work

1 Best Coworking Spaces in Calle Hermosa

Calle Hermosa is one of Central America's best-kept surf spots β€” a beach break between JacΓ³ and Hermosa that's attracted a small but serious community of nomads who came for the waves and stayed for the life. This coworking space carries Nomad Magazine on-site.

Why people work from Calle Hermosa

Costa Rica has excellent internet by Central American standards, stable infrastructure, and a government that's friendly to remote workers. Calle Hermosa's pace is set by the tides β€” you work when the waves are bad and surf when they're good.

Neighbourhoods & location context

Calle Hermosa is a stretch of beach south of JacΓ³ β€” small, walkable, and completely unpretentious. JacΓ³ is 5 minutes north and has more amenities. Herradura (north) and Esterillos (south) are quiet alternatives. A car or scooter opens up the whole Central Pacific coast.

Who Calle Hermosa suits

Surfers who work. Nomads who want a Pacific coast base outside Southeast Asia. Those drawn to Costa Rica's stability and English-friendly environment. Anyone looking for a Central American base that doesn't require adjusting to challenging infrastructure.

Cost, vibe & best season

Costa Rica is pricier than its neighbours but offers first-world stability. Day passes from $15–25 USD. Accommodation ranges widely. The dry season (December–April) brings consistent surf and sunshine. The green season (May–November) gets heavy rain but the surf often improves.

Our Story

I first visited Costa Rica over 20 years ago. Our car broke down right at the bus stop in Calle Hermosa. I don't know if it was fate, but I rarely have car breakdowns, and perhaps I should have accepted destiny and simply stayed there. Instead, I only returned many years later and started the Coconut Office. Playa Hermosa has earned a reputation as one of the world's premier surfing destinations. In 2021, the American non-profit organization, Save the Waves Coalition, selected Playa Hermosa as the 11th World Surf Reserve globally. The Coconut Office is designed specifically for clients seeking a productive work environment while enjoying surfing and tranquility. We love spending time with our guests while grilling, surfing, or going on other excursions. Many of the activities we enjoy with our guests are things we ourselves love doing: beach bonfires, cooling down in the river at Playa Hermosa, visiting a nearby waterfall, yoga, skateboarding...
